Who we are

Edge Energy Consulting Ltd is the data controller for the personal data processed through this website and the Edge bill validation platform. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

What we collect

• Account information: name, email address, company name, phone number
• Bill data: energy bills you upload, including supplier details, meter references, rates, and consumption figures
• Contract data: agreed rates and contract terms you provide for validation
• Usage data: how you interact with the platform, pages visited, features used
• Communications: emails and messages you send us

How we use it

• To provide and improve the bill validation service
• To generate validation reports and flag billing errors
• To communicate with you about your account and the service
• To comply with legal obligations

Legal basis

We process your data on the basis of contractual necessity (to provide the service you signed up for), legitimate interest (to improve the platform and communicate with you), and consent (for marketing communications, where applicable).

Data storage and security

Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Bills from known suppliers are processed on our own UK-based server. Each broker account is fully isolated. Bill files are deleted after 90 days unless you request otherwise.

Third parties

We do not sell your data. We share data only with service providers necessary to operate the platform (hosting, email delivery, payment processing). All third parties are bound by data processing agreements.

AI processing

Bills from suppliers we do not yet recognise may be processed using AI-based extraction. If you prefer, we can configure your account so no bill is sent to the AI reader, though unfamiliar layouts will extract less detail. The platform tells you which reader was used for each bill.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data. You can also object to processing or withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at liam@edge-energy.uk.

Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. We use analytics cookies to understand how the platform is used. You can disable non-essential cookies in your browser settings.

Data retention

Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. Bill files are deleted 90 days after upload. On account termination, all data is deleted within 90 days unless a legal obligation requires us to retain it.
